St Machar’s Cathedral

St Machar’s Cathedral was the seat of the bishop of Aberdeen, around 1131, However the Bishop Nechtan moved from Mortlach to Dufftown, It’s located to the north of the city center, in the former burgh of Old Aberdeen. King David the first, transferred the see of Mortlach to Aberdeen, making the church a cathedral.

Craigievar Castle

Craigievar castle is an iconic tower house it’s one of the best preserved castles in Scotland, the castle is styled in the Baronial style in 1576 and was finally completed in 1626.

The stunning castle house has Sempill and the Forbes family resided here for around 350 years until the 1963, the property was given to the national trust of Scotland, to keep preserved.

Bullers of Buchan

The cliffs are known as ‘the pot’ due to its circular formation, it’s about 30 meters deep and the sea rushes in through a natural archway.

You can find a lot of wild life in the cliffs at the Bullers, such as sea birds, kittiwakes, puffins, shags, razor-bills and a few others, it’s known to be a nesting sites for this birds during spring.

Slain’s Castle

The castles core is a 16th century tower house, however it now requires a restoration but been on hold since 2009, the last time the castle had a significant reconstruction was back in 1837, when it was built by Scots Baronial mansion, it had three extensive gardens.
