Bullers of Buchan

The Name given to this sea cave is ‘Bullers’ which has two explanation on to why it was named ‘Bullers’ the first one is from the Scottish word, which means rushing of water and the French word ‘Bouillir’ which means ‘to boil’.

However the name ‘Bullers of Buchan’ which is given for the adjacent village and the collapsed sea cave, the village can be found about 6 miles south of Peterhead in Buchan, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

You can find a lot of wildlife in the cliffs at the Bullers, such as seabirds, kittiwakes, puffins, shags, razor-bills and a few others, it’s known to be a nesting site for this birds during spring.

The cliffs are known as ‘the pot’ due to its circular formation, it’s about 30 meters deep and the sea rushes in through a natural archway.
