Castello Normanno-Svevo

The Castello Svevo is a castle built in 1132 by the Norman King Roger the 2nd, however was later destroyed by King William the first of Sicily and then rebuilt and reinforced in 1233 by the Holy Roman Emperor Fredrick the 2nd.

The castle is surrounded by moat on all the sides, however the northern section can be accessed from the bridge and the gate on the southern side.

For number of centuries the castle was used as a military base and then a prison however its now an exhibition for tourists and locals to visit and explore this beautiful castle.
