Museum of Scotland

The National Museum of Scotland was formed with ‘New Museum of Scotland’ and Royal Museum in 2006, to bring collection of Scottish antiquities, culture and history, science and technology, natural history, and world cultures together.

The Royal Museum was built in 1861, and the more modern Museum of Scotland was completed in 1998.

The Museum underwent a major refurbishment that took three years and finally opened in July 2011, the project cost around £47 Million, which restored and extended the building.

The Leading Architect for this project was Gareth Hoskins and the concurrent redesign of the exhibitions by Ralph Appelbaum Associates.
