Centrum Varend Erfgoed Hoorn is a museum situated in the harbour area of Hoorn, it’s a beautiful location with access to the large open waters of the Marker and Ijsselmeer, the ship in which the museum is situated in is the living memory of the history of the city and Holland, Hoorn was once a popular place for visiting ships of the traditional charter fleet.

The museum includes a collection of sailing monuments from sail fishing and cargo sailing and also highlights the maritime history of Hoorn, its International trade and horn and the water. the next complex was established in 2013 by the Municipality of Hoorn.

Verhalenark in Hoorn

Verhalenark in Hoorn

The Verhalenark in Hoorn is based on Noah’s Ark, its the first floating Bible museum in the world and was designed to be same as the original ark based from the bibles description of the ark, the Bible states that the Ark is about a hundred and forty meters long, however the Verhalenark is only seventy meters long and 13 meter high, making it only half the size of the original ark described in the bible however its still a massive ship, it just about fits through the marina of Schagen.

The Verhalenark has been designed to sail the world, its previously been in the ports of Schagen, Rotterdam, Sliedrecht, Arnhem, Amsterdam, Drachten and Aalsmeer, however on Friday 25th of August 2017 the Ark will be sailing to Hoorn until 28th February 2018, to give its visitors an impression of the ship and the stories behind it.

Verhalenark was made by Johan Huibers from Schagen and was bought by Aad Peters in 2010, who now manages the Ark. The exhibition was made by more than fifteen international artists, commissioned and by ideas from Aad Peters.

Since its opening in 2010 the museum had more then 400,000 people visit this exhibition.

Sports and Event Center De Scheg

De Scheg is a sports and event center in Deventer, part of the sports complex is a skating rink, which has been around since 1992. Within the complex contains a subtropical swimming pool and gyms.

Elder Margriet de Jager opened the sports complex for the public on October 8, 2011. A week later, the 42nd IJsselcup was won. De Scheg is the number six on the list of fastest ice rinks in the Netherlands in January 2017.

The Museum Geert Groote Huis is totally devoted to Deventenaar Geert Groote, lived between 1340 – 1384.He’s called the founder of the ‘Modern Devotion’. This renewal movement was a personal embodiment of faith and sincere life and a personal embodiment of faith.

The Museum offers the the interactive timeline can reveal what happened in his life and performances and walks.

To date inspire the ideas of Geert Groote. The foundation of the first chapel of the Brothers of the Common Life, located at the Lamme of Dieseplein, is why the Geert Groote Huis is built. How he came to his insight, why he criticized the church and society and why his mind is still up to date.

The museum brings modern day technology such as Virtual Reality and places you back in time to the beginning of the 16th century. Within the virtual chapel you can also marry a beautiful psalter.

Museum MORE is the largest museum for Dutch Modern Realism, The collection was acquired by Hans Melchers and containing works by leading Dutch realist artistes of the past 100 years.

Hans Melchers acquired the collection with the intention of gathering top works of Dutch Modern Realistic and making it accessible to a wider audience.

Their work is related to that of other artists who mixed fiction and reality, The collection is a significant part of the Dutch national cultural heritage.

The museum building was designed by the celebrated Dutch architect Hans van Heeswijk, who was also responsible for the reconstruction of the Van Gogh Museum and the Hermitage in Amsterdam also the Mauritshuis in the Hague.

The More Museum offers more then just collection of historic importance but also a museum shop, a private cafe and cyclists can use e-bikes charging points. Inside the museum there is WiFi and there are charging points for smartphones and tablets.
