  1. Kandy Lake also is known as Kiri Muhuda or the Sea of Milk, is an artificial lake in the heart of the hill city of Kandy, Sri Lanka.
  2. The Maximum depth of Kandy Lake is 18 metres (59 ft).
  3. Kandy Lake was built in 1807 by King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe next to the Temple of the Tooth. Over the years, it was reduced in size.
  4. Kandy Lake is a protected lake, with fishing banned.
  5. Until 1960 the Kandy waterboard used the lake to distribute water to the surrounding areas, however, this was stopped due to the lake having an increase in pollution.
  6. The lake is surrounded by a wall called Walakulu Bamma or Clouds Wall, which was built to increase the beauty of the Kandy Lake.
  7. Kandy Lake was originally built to beautify the Temple of the Tooth and serves as a remnant of the last Sri Lankan Kingdome.
