Verhalenark in Hoorn

The Verhalenark in Hoorn is based on Noah’s Ark, its the first floating Bible museum in the world and was designed to be same as the original ark based from the bibles description of the ark, the Bible states that the Ark is about a hundred and forty meters long, however the Verhalenark is only seventy meters long and 13 meter high, making it only half the size of the original ark described in the bible however its still a massive ship, it just about fits through the marina of Schagen.

The Verhalenark has been designed to sail the world, its previously been in the ports of Schagen, Rotterdam, Sliedrecht, Arnhem, Amsterdam, Drachten and Aalsmeer, however on Friday 25th of August 2017 the Ark will be sailing to Hoorn until 28th February 2018, to give its visitors an impression of the ship and the stories behind it.

Verhalenark was made by Johan Huibers from Schagen and was bought by Aad Peters in 2010, who now manages the Ark. The exhibition was made by more than fifteen international artists, commissioned and by ideas from Aad Peters.

Since its opening in 2010 the museum had more then 400,000 people visit this exhibition.
