5.0 out of 5 stars Best Headphones out there for the price. 23 Dec. 2013

The bottom line for me was first and foremost WIRELESS IS A MUST, after researching reviews, multiple sites, and I went to in-store demo stations where they let you try different brands like Beats, Soul, Bose and so on. The wireless headphone prices were crazy. SYNC is the only top notch wireless headphone I found not pushing 300 bucks, the most comfortable headset I have ever worn, if needed I can even wear them with my glasses on. They're sturdy in case your clumsy like me, the sound is way way better than Beats, or Soul. The Bose headphones that cost a little over twice as much had great sound but not worth the difference and don't look as cool. They come with a little transmitter that you connect to any device with a headphone jack and then you link it to the headphones by pressing a button on both the headphone and the transmitter. This is my second pair because I found out you can SYNC these with other SYNC head phones through the same transmitter. For example, my girlfriend and I use this feature for late night movies, video gaming, sharing each others music. The new ones don't have this feature from what I saw, and the transmitter which is no hassle at all makes for a noticeable increase in effective range its a shame they discontinued it. I purchased 2 pair for 300 dollars plus tax. That's a lot of money, to me anyway, just for a couple headphones, but I'll never have to buy another pair again (knock on wood). I feel good about this purchase, and if you enjoy using headphones for whatever reason on a regular basis...GET THEM. Hope this helped.

2.0 out of 5 stars Just too flawed for me to recommend 18 July 2014

First off, I owned the Sync's for over a year so feel comfortable writing a knowledgable review.

A little about me so you know where my review is coming from. I wear glasses so most on-ears are out of the question. I have a medium sized head. I mostly use over-ear headphones for home or office use as I feel silly walking around in them. I work next to an airport so am able to test all of my headphone's noise isolation/cancellation. I do use most headphones with an amplifier but use them direct when I do take them out. I listen to everything from country to hip-hop to Polish folk music and need a headphone that can keep up with all of them when listening on shuffle. On that note, onward with the review.

These are OK sounding headphones. They do have accentuated bass but it is not bloated. The mids and highs are also adequate. That's the best word for this set: adequate. They are not as detailed as the AKG K550s, Klipsch Mode M-40s, V-Moda Crossfade LP, or even the Monster Inspiration. If you're looking at these for the wireless feature, they do sound better than a lot of the Bluetooth headphones such as the Denon Globecruisers (too bassy and not very detailed) and the Aurvana Gold (a bit muffled overall). But the Bluetooth sets can control your player and take calls. These come with a dongle that connects to any device with a 1/8" output but need an extra dongle to be able to skips songs and cannot answer calls wirelessly at all.

Most headphones nowadays have completely circular earcups. This makes no sense as I can't remember anybody having completely circular ears. Though they're marketed as over ear, I can't imagine anybody's ears fitting inside the earpads. They are also quite heavy. Because of these issues, I couldn't wear them for more than 30 mins without having to re-adjust or take a break from them all together. Something like the AKG K550 or Q701 are also circular but are definitely over the ear. The ear cups on those two are huge and fit around most ears with plenty of room to spare.

The Sync by 50s are quite the looker. They are very plasticky but still look quite durable. I got the white model and they are simply the case. Once you put these monsters (no pun intended) on, they make any head look a size or two smaller. They are huge and heavy and stick off of one's head quite a bit. To quantify, it's about ½ to ¾ inches away from your head on multiple points.

In spite of being closed back headphones, they still leak some sound. Probably because of the fit on my ears which isn't completely flush. They have a light on the S which can be turned off so not really a factor either way. Just though I'd mention it

The Syncs use Kleer technology for communicating wirelessly with your device and promise lossless sound. This would be fine if the headphones sounded better though. Music from portables are usually compressed and Bluetooth headsets perform another compression on top of that. As such, most Bluetooth headsets are not very good sounding. These are promoted as sounding better and they are...marginally. The Kleer technology I'm sure is fine. These headphones just don't sound that great wired or wireless. Moreover, you lose the ability to take or make wireless calls and need an optional dongle to control music like Bluetooth. On the SMS website, this set is categorized as home theater `phones. Since most home theater receivers and/or TVs do not have Bluetooth headphones, these work fine for that capacity.

These come with a universal one button cable, a hard shell case with is big and not very easy to lug with you, a cleaning cloth, adapter, and the Kleer Module that connects through a 1/8" plug.

Please not, they need to be paired with the dongle every time you use it.

Best suited for
Those looking for stylish headphones that want them to be very prominent on their head while walking outside or those that are looking for a basic wireless option for viewing movies from a home theater that does not have Bluetooth or other wireless output options.

Not for
Audiophiles demanding the most accurate, flat response, people not wanting massive plastic doo-dads sticking out of their heads.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not for me. 17 Jan. 2015

Sound: Awesome, but there was a frequent, subtle "clicking" noise. It was only really noticeable at quiet moments, like between songs, but still disappointing.

Functionality: Mostly annoying. Easy set-up and got it (mostly) working immediately. However, the transmitter only fit upside down on my front usb, and also covered my second usb port. The auto-shut off "feature" is unforgiving. If you stop listening to music or watching a video for a minute the headset powers off. And every time I had to hit the power button on the headset *and* the usb transmitter. Track skip didn't work for me in the brief time I tried (using wmp).

Comfort: Fairly comfortable, but not for long use. Ears got ever so slightly sore and warm.

Physical Appearance/Materials: Yes and No. Upon opening the amazon package I was immediately impressed with even the quality of the retail box. Everything inside is slick and durable as well - the wires, headphone case, the headphones themselves. Obviously a lot of thought and care went into this product. Buuuut...I put the headphones on and I looked ridiculous. The band is crazy wide. I thought they looked awesome on the promo pics and looked again and realized 50 is wearing a cap in all the pics. Guess you need to wear a cap with these.

Conclusion: Disappointing in too many regards. Returned and looking for something else.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great headphones for the price ! They Look and Sound Amazing, I highly recommend ! 8 Nov. 2013

There are many different wireless headphones out on the market today, but none stand out like the SYNC by 50 wireless headphones from SMS audio. The Sync by 50 headphones wirelessly offers clear, powerful sound without any interference from any other wireless devices you may have. They are aesthetically pleasing, easy to use, and the sound quality will blow you away!
The first thing people compare the SYNCs to, are the most popular headphones out on the market today; The Beats by Dre from Monster audio. Although the Beats are great, they cannot be compared to the SYNCs because none of the models of Beats have wireless capabilities. The SYNC by 50 headphones are bulky, but are very light for their size and are extremely comfortable. Each headphone is padded with memory foam cups to allow for hours of listening without fatigue or discomfort. The SYNCs come in 3 different colors; black, grey, and white. Whatever the color, they look great. They are sleek, stylish and best of all, fully functional!
If there is anything the SYNCs are known for, it's quality. They are constructed from high quality materials and are very durable. They automatically connect to a small wireless transmitter that plugs into any headphone jack which offers a wireless range of fifty feet. A great feature of the SYNCs is that they can be used as regular wired headphones as well simply by connecting one end of the the included auxiliary cable into the headphones and the other end into an audio source. There is also a small microphone on the auxiliary cable that can be used to make phone calls without having to unplug the cable from your phone first. The headphones themselves offer clear, robust sound with no distortion. A convenient feature of the headphones is that the volume and the fast forward/rewind buttons are integrated right into the headphones for easy access. A strange design flaw is that the fast forward/rewind buttons don't work wirelessly (however they do work perfectly while wired). Another great feature is that there is a bass boost button on the left ear piece. This button increases the power of the bass drivers if you want a little more kick from your music.
The batteries in both the headphones and the transmitter are integrated into the set and charge fairly quickly. However there is only one charger, so you will have to charge each device separately (unless of course you have another micro USB charger handy). The batteries in the headphones last about 16 hours, and the transmitter batteries last about 8 hours. This is another major design flaw, but even if the batteries die, they transform into wired headphones that work just as great!
In conclusion, the SYNC by 50 wireless headphones from SMS audio are great! They are stylish, durable and offer fifty feet of wireless range. They can also be used as a corded headset. Other brands of headphones can't even compare! Even though there are a few minor flaws, it is not enough to ruin the experience of these amazing headphones. The sound quality and the comfort trump all flaws!
4.0 out of 5 stars So far so good! 27 Sept. 2014

In a week of use I can tell you that these headphones are quite nice, and I am overall satisfied with the purchase.
3 pros and cons in my opinion:

1) Sound quality is good, I am not an audiophile but I can enjoy shows and movies with a full, clear sound.
2) The system with the transmitter is really lossless, I haven't tried long distances but in the range that I needed (about 20 feet) it works just great. In reality I wasn't afraid of disturbances. I thought there could have been signal lags in the audio, as many of these 3.5mm jack-based wireless transmitter have this problem. No lag whatsoever, so no worries for movies and tv-shows.
3) The headphones case is nice, solid and spacious, will allow you to bring these around without worrying about breaking them. Also, lots of parts arrive in the package, so you don't have to worry about purchasing additional stuff separately in the future.

1) They get hot. I have experienced this a few times already, even after a hour of use. I have tried adjusting them differently, but there is not much change. Reason for 1 star off.
2) The pairing is straightforward, but you lose connection in 2-3 min if nothing is playing. Which is a bit annoying because you have to pair them again, and it takes about 20 seconds. Don't mind it much though, just a minor flaw. I am sure it's designed to optimize battery use both for headphones and transmitter.
3) The head-strap spans a great deal of width, significantly less height, even when the adjustable extension is all the way out. This means that if your head is big, you might not be able to cover your entire outer ear. I have a medium/big head and I can barely cover my ears. If you think you have a big head you may want to consider trying them at Best Buy or Walmart before you actually purchase them.
